Meet Megan

Hi… I’m Megan. And I have the best job in the world.

As a maternity and newborn photographer, I have the wonderful privilege to meet some absolutely amazing families and be a part of these once-in-a-lifetime memories. Aside from cuddling with adorable new babies and laughing with moms-to-be, I think my favorite part of this experience is that I’m able to watch these little ones grow from tiny babies to children that make the world more beautiful just by being here. I help people experience life, cherish love, and remember that each little baby, each child, is an absolute miracle. And a miracle only happens once….

So how did Megan Marlene Photography get started?

I blame it all on my husband, Micah. No, really, I do! You see, we met when we were just sixteen years old and Micah was already obsessed with cameras. Me, not so much. I was most content with my nose stuck in a book. Since we  were best friends, I naturally picked up his camera one day and my whole world changed.

After we got married and moved to Alaska, I enrolled in a film photography course at UAA and learned many of the basics of photography and what goes into creating a good image. This foundation proved to be the starting point that I needed in order to start portfolio building towards a future career in photography.

In Fall of 2009, we found out that we were expecting our first child and suddenly I fell in love with all things baby, including maternity and newborn photography. In fact, our son, Caleb, actually had the privilege of being the very first newborn that I ever photographed. In June of 2010, Megan Marlene Photography was officially launched and I began on the most incredible journey.

Now here we are…

These years have been amazing, full of learning and growing, both as a photographer and a businesswoman. Each day I am thankful for the opportunities and talent that God has given me and for the lessons learned and experiences gained. Newborn and baby photography has stolen my heart and I love giving each of my clients an amazing photography experience, from beginning to end.

Because you are the reason why I do what I do.
